A Major Management Hurdle
Dealing with communication among hundreds of employees is one of the biggest challenges when managing a high-standard organization like Sonny Merryman. Sending important messages through various channels can be a hassle, and it can be time-consuming to search through multiple channels to find crucial announcements from management. Some of these crucial information – including employee anniversaries, announcements, or upcoming events – can easily be missed if there isn't any platform used to keep this information all in one place.
Sonny Merryman needed our help to find a solution to improve overall team management and boost communication for their employees.
Our Approach: Creating an Employee Portal in Less Than a Week
Time was of the essence on this project, so we started by ideating which features should be prioritized to keep the portal simple yet functional. Some of these features were the following:
A calendar view to see the list of upcoming events
An announcement feed
An employee directory
Quick access buttons that can be linked to other URLs
Aside from the features mentioned above, we had to make sure that the platform is mobile-responsive built with scalability in mind.
To streamline the process, we started by creating mid-fidelity wireframes using visual elements from their existing website:
